Business strategy and research.

Customer insight, market research and a practical plan for where your business goes next.

Two strategists compare research cards and choose a destination on a shared route map.

A good brief starts with better questions.

Before you commission a new identity, website or campaign, agree who it needs to reach and what it needs to change. We turn business goals and market evidence into a shared direction for the work.

What we can build together.

The final deliverables, review rounds and schedule are agreed around your brief.

Customer and market insight
Understand buying situations, audience needs and the alternatives customers already consider.
Positioning
Define the offer, the people it serves and the reasons to choose it.
Channel priorities
Decide which channels deserve attention, with assumptions and dependencies made explicit.
A brief your team can act on
Bring the recommendations together with priorities, owners and a measurement plan.

Start with the decision.

Name the uncertainty

“We need more growth” is a starting point, but it does not identify the work. A better brief might ask which audience to prioritise, whether a new offer makes sense to buyers or why qualified enquiries have slowed. Bring the decision and the evidence you already have, including the information that appears to contradict the preferred answer.

Choose an output the team can use

For a new service launch, the output might be an audience choice, an offer statement and a sequence of actions. A long presentation earns its keep only if it helps someone make those decisions. Agree who will approve the direction and who will turn it into delivery before the research begins.

From brief to handover.

  1. Frame the decision

Agree the business question, market, audience and constraints before research starts.

  2. Build the evidence

Review available data, competitors and customer signals. Separate verified findings from working hypotheses.

  3. Choose a direction

Discuss the options together and turn the chosen direction into a brief the delivery team can use.

Get in touch
Can you help before we know what to build?

Yes. Start with the decision you need to make. Research and a focused workshop can help define the right brief.

Is primary research included?

Interviews, surveys and other primary research are scoped separately when needed. The proposal identifies the methods and sources before work begins.

What happens after the strategy?

You can take the brief to your team or continue with 3tf on identity, websites, content and acquisition.

Not sure what you need?

Tell us what you want to fix or grow, and we’ll suggest where to start.
